A daylong class at Chalk Hill Farm spent studying floral mechanics, the art of wreath formation and freestyle floral design.

Hosted on the beautiful grounds of Chalkhill Farm, we are offering a unique Holiday design workshop.In this two-part class we'll focus on the art, mechanics, techniques involved in making a textual, unique holiday wreath to last you through the season and sprawling table top arrangement that will wow all your guests at holiday get togethers. We will begin the day with homemade Linzer Tarte, a Holiday pastry must have in Germany, and an instructional wreath demo. Students will get to work with a variety of greens, natural accents and ribbon from Chestnut & Vine’s studio.
We will break for lunch on the grounds of Chalk Hill Farm. Lunch will be a typical German Holiday faire, just like if you would be going to a Christmas Market.After which we will move onto a study of lush and sprawling arrangements for the table. We will discuss flower selection, color blending and the importance of using texture. There will also be an emphasis on using seasonal foliage and fruit. For this portion of the day, each student will receive their own footed urn as a vessel to create their table top masterpiece. This class is open to students of all levels.
Chalk Hill Clematis is located in Healdsburg, a little over an hour drive from the Bay Area. (Directions)
Bring your own favorite gardening tools and gloves if you like to use them. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers. The barn can be cold.
The cost is $275. All materials, flowers, wreath frame, and a metal footed urn to take home will be provided along with lunch & refreshments.

From the South: Take 101 North towards Santa Rosa. Take the Shiloh exit to the right. Turn left at the second stop light which is Old Redwood Hwy. Go approximately 1.3 miles and turn right on Pleasant Ave. Drive 1 mile on Pleasant Ave. and turn left onto Chalk Hill Rd. Drive 3.7 miles on Chalk Hill Rd. and turn right onto Spurgeon Rd. at 11720 Chalk Hill Rd. and follow signs to the Nursery. From San Francisco travel time is approx. 1.5 hours.
From the North: Take 101 South towards Santa Rosa. Exit at Shiloh and turn left back over Hwy. 101 heading east. Turn left on Old Redwood Hwy. Drive approximately 1.3 miles on Old Redwood Hwy. and turn right onto Pleasant Ave. Go 1 mile on Pleasant Ave. and turn left onto Chalk Hill Rd. Drive 3.7 miles on Chalk Hill Rd. and turn right onto Spurgeon Rd. at 11720 Chalk Hill Rd. and follow the signs to Nursery.
